Shout! Theatre
Shout! is an organisation which engages with the community to explore issues of concern through the Arts. We have been giving people a voice since 1998 by asking the simple question “What do you want to shout about?” and then turning the response into a performance.
As a weekly drama group for 11–18-year-olds we produced and performed 50 plays which reflected the concerns of the young people involved and captured the socioeconomic, cultural and political landscape of Corby town over a 20-year timespan.
In September 2019 we received a grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund to archive, preserve and reflect on this body of work.
We held a reunion, interviewed past members for the East Midlands Oral History Archive, made a film, built this website, collated and published the scripts and deposited our physical archive in the council offices.
This has made the work accessible to future generations and revealed a fascinating snapshot of a town undergoing massive regeneration after the loss of the Steel Industry.
We hope you enjoy exploring the site – whether watching the film, listening to interviews, reading scripts or looking through our photo gallery.
Please get in touch if you want to know more about our work or have memories to share.
